University of Washington, Western Washington University and Bates College topped this season’s first USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division I, II and III Polls presented by Pocock Racing Shells.
Washington, which became the first school in the history of the NCAA Rowing Championship to sweep all three boat classes in 2017, earned all 25 first-place votes to take the top spot in the first Division I poll of the year. University of California at Berkeley, the national runner-up in 2017, ranked second, followed by the University of Texas, Princeton University and University of Michigan.
The defending Division II national champions from Western Washington got the nod in the first DII poll of the season, earning three first-place votes. University of California at San Diego ranked second, earning the other two first-place votes. Florida Institute of Technology, Barry University and the University of Central Oklahoma rounded out the top five.
Bates College, which edged out Williams College for the national title in 2017, earned all 10 first-place votes to take the No. 1 spot in the opening Division III poll. Wesleyan University ranked second, followed by Williams College, Ithaca College and Rochester Institute of Technology.
